Any Time Is Fine To Be In London

I made my fourth visit to London last month. The weather was quite warm; in fact I was surprised at how warm it was, with rain only on one day.

I stayed at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel near the Gloucester Road tube station, along with a group of alumni from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.

I had purchased a visitor travel card, good for endless travel on the tube and the busses in zones one and two, before leaving home. I highly recommend this travel card for anyone visiting London for more than a few days. It was the third time I had purchased such a travel card.

I highly recommend the "top of the bus" tours given daily in London. The one I took included a short cruise down the Thames from the London Eye to the City of London and back. You are allowed to get off the bus at any scheduled stop to explore the area and then re-board the bus to continue the tour. At one point while on the bus, we passed a group of well coiffed women on their way to a garden party at Buckingham Palace.

I did not ride the London Eye due to the crowds waiting to ride the Eye when I was in the area. I hope to do this on my next trip to London.

I visited the Easy Internet Cafes on Kensington High Street, Oxford Street, and across from Victoria Station daily to keep up with e-mail from home and to keep my friends and family informed about my daily activities. I recommend these Internet access points to anyone wishing to send or receive email while visiting London. You must have a web-based Internet mail account in order to send and receive e-mail.

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to London and plan on returning for a fifth time before too long.

I have been to London in July, August, and December; any time is a great time to visit London.

I thoroughly agree with Augusta that anytime is a good time in London, so much to see & do, inside museums or outside just enjoying the sights. A quick tip on visiting the London Eye - book over the phone with your credit card, very simple & you don't have to wait in line so long. I did it this August & it was well worth it. It moves SO slowly that anyone with height/motion problems would still enjoy it.

I, too, love London and all of England. I have had the privilege of visiting three times. As a matter of fact, I was in London on 9-11-01 and I witnessed the out-pouring of love and support for the American people. It was truly an experience. However, this terrible incident has for the time being, halted my thoughts about planning another trip across the pond. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to visit and see so much of what I had read about. I love it and hope I'll soon get the "courage" to travel abroad again. My first trip over was in May and it was very cold and rainy but it did not hamper the wonderful time we had. The next trip was at the end of August and it was extremely hot - the hottest summer on record I think we were told and the last was in September and the weather was great. How can you not enjoy and learn and take in all of the sights and sounds of such a wonderful place though- no matter what the weather. Each time I have stayed at the Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington and found this to be a good location for me with the plans that we had made. Enough of this! I thoroughly enjoy the London Lantern - I print out the columns that appeal the most and read them when I have quiet time. Thanks for sharing.

Editor: I am saddened that it has put you off coming over here, and indeed the same for many of your compatriots. We have supported the USA to the hilt, and some of us feel that we are now paying the price, as currently London is very definitely lacking in American visitors.

I'm a young Spanish girl and I really agree with Augusta. I was so lucky to get a scholarship and spend a whole month in Bromley, from 10th July to 7th August. I was in a host family with other students from different countries. I loved the experience.

I visited London about 8 days, and I liked almost everything. And I must say the weather was perfect! Next year, my school is planning a trip to London, like every other year and I won't lose the opportunity to visit that charming city again.
