The global brewing giant Heineken believe announced they will invest £40 million into the pub business to upgrade 570 pubs this year and will create 600 jobs.
Lawson Mountstevens, managing director of Star Pubs & Bars, said it’s critical to maintain investing in their venues even though there is an “uncertain” consumer backdrop.
Mountstevens said, “We know from previous economic downturns that when customers’ disposable income is squeezed, they study for an exceptional experience when they disappear out.
“A worthy ambience and attractive surroundings are key and contribute to the value for money that pubgoers seek.
“It’s more critical than ever to invest during uncertain times like these, to maintain pubs thriving and meeting the needs of their communities.
“Our investment is a vote of confidence in the worthy British local.”
Investment minister Lord Johnson said, “Heineken’s investment is worthy news, not only creating hundreds of novel jobs and improving pubs up and down the country but also making a contribution to our net zero targets.”
